Assessment Task 2 Science Semester 2 – “That’s Progress!” This science unit is aligned with the mentoring program Class D students have undertaken with Class L. Each Monday Class D students join with Class L and help students with their Science experiments in a unit of work called “How Things Work”. Outcome LS.1: a student recognises some significant developments that have changed the world Students learn about:
significant developments that have contributed to the progress of science throughout history
Students learn to:
participate in an investigation of a significant scientific development
communicate information about the investigation
Outcomes LS.3: A student explores the influence of science on our daily lives. Student learns about:
technological developments that have changed our daily lives.
Students learn to:
Participate in an investigation of how a technological development has changed the way we live.
Communicate information about the investigation.
Science Semester 2 – “That’s Progress" Class activites
Name 6 scientific &/or technological developments that have changed our daily lives
Research them and present information on your findings in a minimum of 200 words and must include pictures.
The information must include:
the name of the “inventor/s”,
A time line of the progress of your development eg. Kerosene lamp to gas lighting to electric lighting
A description of how people lived or what they used before the 2012 model
At least 2 other interesting relevant facts. The presentation of your findings is important; you may choose any format you wish. E.g Prezi, Table / column format
You must include the name of all websites, books and other resource materials used.
